I hated the book Shopaholic to the Stars by Sophie Kinsella so much that I am not providing a link to online book sellers. I don't know why anyone would buy this book. I checked it out at my library because the premise sounded fun. A fashion obsessed woman named Becky ends up in Hollywood because her husband has a job opportunity working with a major celebrity. The book starts off on an amusing note with Becky struggling to escape a firming garment in a retail dressing room. But as the book drags on (it's over 400 pages long!) Becky's antics become predictable and tedious.
She repeatedly lies to her husband and other people when it suits her. Becky is so obsessed with launching her career as a Hollywood stylist she often breaks promises to the people closest to her and is oblivious to the needs of her loved ones until the end of the book when she finally gets over herself and gets a clue. In spite of the fact that the book is over 400 pages long, one of the major plot points is left completely unresolved and remains a mystery. That mystery will probably be solved in the next installment in the Shopaholic series, but I'm not reading any more Shopaholic books. After reading Shopaholic to the Stars I suggest shopping for a book that features a more likable main character that comes in at less than 400 pages!
