The Complete Idiot's Guide to Organizing Your Life, 5th edition by Georgene Lockwood lives up to it's title. It goes way beyond the usual organizing cliches about dumping clutter and creating organizing systems, and guides you through various strategies to organize your LIFE.
The author encourages readers to personalize their organizing efforts by identifying their personal priorities and setting up systems that support those priorities. This more personal approach to organizing also includes visual exercises, dealing with mental clutter such as bad habits and attitudes, and communicating with others.
Being an organizing book, and a thick one at that, there is a lot of practical advice mixed in with the more personal aspects. Budgeting, organizing work spaces and developing more efficient morning routines are just a few of the topics covered. At over 300 pages long this is not a quick read. If your only have time to read a few chapters at a time I suggest you read at least the first 3 chapters since they lay the foundation for getting in the right frame of mind to get organized and get on with your life!
